$MEMS Optical - Diffractive Optics Light Patterns$

Patterning laser light is a new approach for producing continuous intensity patterns with a single input beam. The performance of these optics is very similar to our diffusers, though the design process is slightly different.

Any light pattern, shape or logo can be designed by our team for your application. The possibilities are endless and we have produced patterns in our own development programs such as the Merrill Lynch Bull, a cartoon Beavis (of Beavis and Butthead fame on MTV) and even reproduced an Escher drawing. Since these light pattern generators are designed for a single laser you can only have two tone logos. Color logos are possible with multiple lasers. Light pattern generators are not very cost effective.

If you would like us to review your artwork for conversion into a light pattern, just mail us your high quality artwork (black and white is best) in an electronic format.

Diffraction Efficiency:	Approximately 70%
Edge Sharpness:	Function of aperture and input beam
Speckle Size:	Shape convolved with input beam
Uniformity:	100% modulation within the pattern
Auxiliary Optics:	At focal point of lens the pattern looks best (convolve with Airy pattern)
Input Beam:	A small diameter input yields large speckle
